The Order of Melchizedek in the Bible

KJV  Genesis 14 : 18-20  "And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was the priest of the most high God."

CEV  Genesis 14 : 18 - 20  "King Melchizedek of Salem was a priest of God Most High.  He brought out some bread and wine and said to Abram:  'I bless you in the name of God Most High, Creator of heaven and earth.  All praise belongs to God Most High for helping you to defeat your enemies.'  Then Abram gave Melchizedek a tenth of everything."

KJV  Psalms 110 : 4  "The Lord hath sworn, and will not repent, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchizedek."

CEV  Psalms 110 : 4  "You will be a priest forever, just like Melchizedek."

KJV  Hebrews 5 : 6  "As he saith also in an other place, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchizedek."

CEV  Hebrews 5 : 6   "In another place, God says,  'You are a priest forever just like Melchizedek.'

KJV  Hebrews 5 : 10  "Called of God an high priest after the order of Melchizedek."

CEV  Hebrews 5 : 10  "This is because God chose him to be a high priest  like Melchizedek."

KJV  Hebrews 6 : 20  "Whither the forerunner is for us entered, even Jesus, made an high priest for ever after the order of Melchizedek."

CEV  Hebrews 6 : 20  "Jesus has gone there ahead of us, and he is our high priest forever, just like Melchizedek."

KJV  Hebrews 7 : 1  "For this Melchisedek, king of Salem,  priest of the most high God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings, and blessed him;"

CEV  Hebrews 7 : 1   "Melchizedek was both king of Salem and priest of God Most High.  He was the one who went out and gave Abraham his blessing, when Abraham returned from killing the kings.  Then Abraham gave him a tenth of everything he had."

KJV  Hebrews 7 : 2  "To whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all; first being by interpretation King of righteousness, and after that also King of Salem, which is, King of Peace;"

CEV  Hebrews 7 : 2   "The meaning of the name Melchizedek is 'King of Justice.'  But since Salem means "peace,' he is also "King of Peace."'

CEV  Hebrews 7 : 4  "Notice how great Melchizedek is!  Our famous ancestor Abraham gave him a tenth of what he had taken from his enemies."

CEV  Hebrews 7 : 6   "Although Melchizedek wasn't  a descendant of Levi, Abraham gave him a tenth of what he had.  Then Mellchizedek blessed Abraham, who had been given God's promise.  Everyone agrees that a person who gives a blessing is greater than the one who receives the blessing."

CEV  Hebrews 7 : 8   "Priests are given a tenth of what people earn.  But all priests die, except Melchizedek, and the scriptures teach that he is alive."

KJV  Hebrews 7 :  9  "And as I may so say, Levi also, who received tithes in Abraham."

CEV  Hebrews 7 : 9  "Levi's descendants are now the ones who receive a tenth from people.  We could even say that when Abraham gave Melchizedek a tenth, Levi also gave him a tenth."

KJV  Hebrews 7 : 10  "For he was yet in the loins of his father, when Melchisedek met him."

CEV  Hebrews 7 : 10  "This is because Levi was born later into the family of Abraham, who gave a tenth to Melchizedek."

KJV  Hebrews 7 : 11  "If therefore perfection were by the Levitacal priesthood, (for under it the people received the law,) what further need was there that another priest should rise after the order of Melchisedek, and not be called after the order of Aaron?"

CEV  Hebrews 7 : 11  "Even though the law of Moses says that the priests must be  descendants of Levi, those priest cannot make anyone perfect.  So there needs to be a priest like Melchizedek, rather than one from the priestly family of Aaron."

KJV  Hebrews 7 : 15  "And it is yet far more evident: for that after the similitude of Melchizedek there ariseth another priest."

CEV  Hebrews 7 : 15  "All of this becomes clearer, when someone who is like Melchizedek is appointed to be a priest."

KJV  Hebrews 7 : 17  "For he testifieth, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchizedek."

KJV  Hebrews 7 :  21  "(For those priest were made without an oath: but this with an oath by him that said unto him, The Lord sware and will not repent, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchizedek:)

CEV  Hebrews 7 : 20 -21 "God himself made a promise when this priest was appointed.  But he did not make a promise like this when the other priests were appointed.  The promise he made is, 'I, the Lord, promise that you will be a priest forever!  And I will never change my mind."
